Howdy! I am usually pretty rubbish at putting together ‘about’ pages, so please accept my sincere apologies in advance!
Firstly, this is me! My husband says I’m pretty, but I beg to differ. If you hadn’t guessed from my URL, my name is Lindsay Botterill. It hasn’t always been that. By referring to my husband I’ve let it slip pretty quickly that I am indeed married, to a lovely man called Michael. You can learn more about Michael here. We married in November 2008, and above is a picture of me in my wedding dress (which I love <3 ). I’m sure if you browse my photos for long enough you’ll come across some more pictures from the day.
Before I married Michael, I was known as Lindsay Downes. I do miss being a ‘Downes’ sometimes, especially when it comes to giving someone my full name – most people can spell ‘Downes’ no problem, ‘Botterill’ however I have to spell out every time…just like Lindsay! I was bored one day in my teens and wrote out the many spelling combinations of my name…I came to 32 different spellings…32! No wonder no one ever gets it right!
Michael and I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne, where we met in 2001. We were on the same course at University, felt attracted to one another, didn’t do anything with the feelings for a while and a couple of months passed, we eventually admitted to each other how we felt, started dating, and fell in love. Aaaaah!
We live with our little monsters, aka our cats. We have 3, who in themselves are a little family unit. Sweep is the eldest at 8 years old, followed by Misty, who is Sweep’s daughter and 6 years old, and finally Jenny, who is 2 years old , and Misty’s daughter, and therefore Sweep’s granddaughter!
I am a Bahá’í, and doing my level best to apply Bahá’í principles to every aspect of my life. Sometimes I fail, but it is from our mistakes that we can sometimes realise the greatest of insights. If you have not heard of the Bahá’í faith, you can learn more here.
I currently work for Siemens as an administrator working from home. To be honest it’s not what I ever saw myself doing whilst growing up…I always thought I’d either be doing something arty, or be in a lab somewhere blowing stuff up. Anyway, my job pays the bills, and I’ve been fortunate with the opportunities I have had during my time with Siemens.
Outside of work, I like quite a few things – doodling, listening to music, playing (according to Michael, girly) video games, watching geeky TV shows like Star Trek, watching F1, reading, surfing the interwebs, and most importantly, spending time with loved ones.
As much as I would like to be detached from obsession over things of fiction, I can be a little bit of a fangirl! I have loved Star Trek for as long as I can remember and I love the Final Fantasy video game series, especially FF7. Recently my love for TMNT has been reignited – that’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for those who aren’t familiar with the initialism! *hides*
I grew up in a town called Blyth on the North East coast of England, which isn’t too far from Newcastle where I am now. I lived with my parents until I was 18 in Blyth, with my younger brothers James and Robert, and little sister Jane. Sometimes I miss living at home, but the experience of branching out on my own at 18 was invaluable and character building…in other words I have no regrets!
I can’t think of much more to say, I’m quite an uninteresting person!. If you wish to contact me (you never know, maybe we have something in common!), you can at me@lindsaybotterill.com
Lindsay x
